The shades on this job
- 5% tint (limo tint)
- The darkest shade most shops carry. Only about 5% of visible light gets through, so from outside the glass reads black and you cannot see in during the day.
- 15% tint (dark)
- Dark, but not blacked out. In daylight you can make out shapes inside if you look for them. From across a parking lot the glass still reads black.
- 70% tint (nearly clear)
- About as light as film gets. The glass looks close to stock.
In Arizona the back side windows and rear glass can be any shade. Front side windows have to let more than 33% of light through.
Reading the notes
- Removal
- The old film and its adhesive come off before anything new goes on. Faded, bubbled, or peeling film cannot be tinted over.
- Sun strip
- Also called a visor strip or brow: a band of film across the top of the windshield that blocks the low sun a visor misses.
- Full windshield
- Film over the whole windshield, usually a light shade picked for heat rather than looks. Arizona only allows windshield tint above the AS-1 line, so ask before you copy this one.
- Nano ceramic
- A multi-layer ceramic film, the highest heat rejection tier.
