The shades on this job
- 5% tint (limo tint)
- The darkest shade most shops carry. Only about 5% of visible light gets through, so from outside the glass reads black and you cannot see in during the day.
- 15% tint (dark)
- Dark, but not blacked out. In daylight you can make out shapes inside if you look for them. From across a parking lot the glass still reads black.
In Arizona the back side windows and rear glass can be any shade. Front side windows have to let more than 33% of light through.
Reading the notes
- Removal
- The old film and its adhesive come off before anything new goes on. Faded, bubbled, or peeling film cannot be tinted over.
- Sun strip
- Also called a visor strip or brow: a band of film across the top of the windshield that blocks the low sun a visor misses.
- Roll ups
- The door windows that roll down, as opposed to fixed glass.
- Pocket, quarter, and vent windows
- The small fixed windows beside the main door glass. Easy to skip, and the job looks unfinished when they are.
- Nano ceramic
- A multi-layer ceramic film, the highest heat rejection tier.
